Where to Find Free Wifi in Sydney, Australia

by | Apr 5, 2013 | Expat Life in Sydney

Finding free WiFi in Sydney is fairly easy. All the McDonald’s, Starbucks and Gloria Jeans cafes in the city offer free WiFi. But those are not your only options. Many smaller cafes and some restaurants in the city have begun to offer WiFi, though you may have to ask for a password. Several ferry routes now also have free WiFi for the first 30 mins along with a few train stations (Circular Quay Station is the first with more to follow). Displayed below is a Google Map with the locations of free WiFi spots in Sydney.

Below is a list of 66 cafes, bars, restaurants and other places that offer free wireless in Sydney. I have not gone through and confirmed all of them or listed the hours. Before you head off to a specific listing, call and confirm that they are still open and the hours of business.

Lock-In Your Exchange Rate

Did you know the Australian dollar is a commodity currency? This means the value of the Australian dollar is linked to the price of iron ore and other Australian exports. It also means that it's HIGHLY VOLATILE! When a good rate comes along, you need to be ready to jump on it and lock-in that exchange rate.
